Owner's Bio

Rob Ziv, of Vizor Services Group, was first bitten with the recording bug while attending recording sessions with his father back in 1975.  A complete addiction soon followed.  The thirst for knowledge eventually led Rob to become a top graduate of three different recording schools, including a degree in Jazz/Commercial Music.

Since 1987, when Rob started engineering professionally, his expertise has grown through staff positions at the legendary Power Station Studios and Quad Recording Studios in New York and through managing a recording studio design company.  In addition to engineering projects for producer Tony Bongiovi (known for Bon Jovi, the Ramones, Jimi Hendrix and others), over the last twenty-plus years, Rob has been fortunate to hone his craft while working alongside other talented engineers such as Steve Boyer (known for his work with Eric Clapton) and several Grammy Award winners.

Rob has earned credit on projects with Keith Richards, Aaron Neville, and other respected industry veterans.  His work immediately prior to relocating to Baltimore included sessions for Celine Dion and the movie "Chicago".  Rob’s engineering work spans a variety of genres including folk, punk, country, big-band, rock, hip-hop, classical, jingles, gospel, spoken word, aboriginal music and many more.  His work with Gary Jobson and Jim McKay has been heard on ESPN, in advertising during the Olympics and Rob is the voice talent for the International Library of Poetry.  He is a member of the Audio Engineering Society, the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences and holds a degree in business with a specialization in computer information systems.

In the years leading up to starting Vizor, Rob served as Engineer and Director of Education for Sheffield Recordings Studios and The Sheffield Institute for the Recording Arts – one of the top recording studios in the Mid-Atlantic Region.  Many of Rob’s students have now gone on to significant success in their own right. Rob continues teaching in a number of audio and media related programs and is often found sharing his experience and expertise as a guest lecturer in a variety of venues.

In 2008, Rob started Vizor Services Group, an Audio and Video production company committed to putting quality results within reach for the general public and is dedicated to helping musicians bring their dreams of recording to fruition.  As such, he is consistently seeking to match artists in need of a recording with the tools they need to succeed.
